Living Stadium

This was a project for our local county fair. This fair is a huge fair, almost as big as the Florida State fair. Every year they have a theme and this year was "Sports, Play Hard, Play Fair" They wanted customers to feel like they were walking out onto a stadium field or pitch as the crowd was cheering! They were going to have giant 20ft x 40ft banners printed out and hung at the entrance of the fair and put astro turf on the floor for grass. They tried finding stock photos of straight on views of stadiums but couldn't find anything so I was asked to draw a basic stadium so they could project live images on it. So this is what I came up with. It took me about 8 hours to make the stadium and because the renders were going to be so big I sent it off to a render farm for the images. It actually turned out pretty good. Opening day was packed with people and it really had a stadium feel.

Three different HUGE renders were made for each banner

This was how it was sent to the 3D video programmer so he could figure out where he'd project the videos

This was the concept. As you walked into the expo building you'd fell like you were on the field of a sports stadium

This is the finished product. Giant 20ft x 40ft banners with live action projected on them and music playing in the background

I did sections and then just used array to make as many as I needed

I used .PNG files for the people. This way I could keep the polygon count down to something manageable.
